Key takeaways

  • •41 venues on Venuekhoj in Jaipur, Udaipur and Goa have a lawn for 300 guests or more, and 22 of those hold 1,000 or more.
  • •Most indoor backups are much smaller than the lawn: the typical venue's indoor space holds 38% of its lawn crowd, so plan rain cover before you plan decor.
  • •A big lawn rarely means a big hotel. At the typical venue, the rooms house only a third of the lawn crowd, so large outdoor weddings usually need nearby hotels.
  • •Outdoor music on loudspeakers has to stop by 10 pm under India's noise rules, so plan late functions indoors.

An outdoor wedding is the picture most couples have in mind for Rajasthan or Goa: a lawn under open sky, a palace wall or the sea behind the mandap. Choosing outdoor wedding venues well comes down to three numbers most listings hide in the small print: how many guests the lawn holds, how many the indoor backup holds if it rains, and how many guests can sleep on site. This guide lists all 41 outdoor wedding venues on Venuekhoj in Jaipur, Udaipur and Goa with those three numbers side by side.

Outdoor wedding venues at a glance

Venuekhoj lists 41 hotels in Jaipur, Udaipur and Goa with a lawn for 300 guests or more: 26 in Jaipur, 11 in Udaipur and 4 in Goa.

  • Largest lawns: seven venues list a lawn for 2,000 guests or more, four in Jaipur and three in Udaipur. Rambagh Palace is the largest, at 2,500.
  • Large lawns: 22 of the 41 lawns hold 1,000 guests or more.
  • Indoor backup: at the typical venue, the indoor space holds 38% of the lawn crowd. Only 2 of the 41 can move a full lawn function indoors.
  • Rooms on site: at the typical venue, the rooms house about a third of the guests the lawn holds, at two guests a room.

Capacities below were given to us by each hotel's sales team and are as listed in October 2026. Outdoor space covers the hotel's lawn, courtyard or terrace, and indoor backup is its largest banquet space.

Outdoor wedding venues in Jaipur

Jaipur has the widest choice, with 26 venues and 14 lawns that hold 1,000 guests or more. The largest lawns sit at resorts on the edge of the city and at palace hotels with open grounds.

Lawns for 300 to 999 guests

  • Largest lawn: Rambagh Palace lists 2,500 guests outdoors, against 500 indoors and 78 rooms.
  • Closest match between lawn and indoor space: Fairmont Jaipur and Marriott Jaipur each list an indoor space as large as the lawn.
  • Most rooms on site: Marriott Jaipur and ITC Rajputana can house their full lawn crowd in their own rooms.
  • Outside the city: Ananta Spa and Resort Ajabgarh and Alila Fort Bishangarh are listed with our Jaipur venues but sit outside Jaipur itself, so plan guest transfers.

Outdoor wedding venues in Udaipur

Udaipur has 11 venues with a lawn for 300 or more, and three of them hold 2,000. Lakeside and hilltop hotels dominate, and indoor space is the main constraint.

  • Smallest backup relative to the lawn: Trident Udaipur lists 70 guests indoors against a lawn for 700.
  • Plan rooms early: no Udaipur venue on this list can house its full lawn crowd on site, so larger weddings combine a main hotel with rooms nearby.

Outdoor wedding venues in Goa

Goa has 4 venues with a lawn for 300 guests or more, and two of them hold 1,200 or more. Beach and garden settings are the draw, but indoor backup is thin at the smaller resorts.

  • Thinnest backup: Taj Holiday Village Resort and Spa lists 50 guests indoors against a lawn for 500.

Plan the indoor backup first

The lawn decides your guest list, but the indoor backup decides what happens if the weather turns. At 18 of the 41 venues, the indoor space holds less than a third of the lawn crowd.

  • Match the backup to your function, not your wedding. A 300 guest mehendi can move indoors at most venues. A 1,500 guest reception usually cannot.
  • Hotels plan for rain. For monsoon dates, the hotels on our list keep an indoor backup ready in case rain arrives during a function.
  • Ask for a covered option. Some hotels can tent part of a lawn. Ask what that costs and how far ahead it must be confirmed.
  • Keep one function indoors by design. Many couples hold the sangeet in the banquet hall and keep the lawn for the wedding ceremony and reception.

Can your guests stay where the wedding is?

Usually not all of them. Only 2 of the 41 venues have enough rooms to house a full lawn crowd at two guests a room.

  • Count rooms, not lawn size. A lawn for 2,000 means little if the hotel has 100 rooms.
  • Use nearby hotels. Keep the main events at one venue and place extra guests at hotels close by, with transfers planned.
  • Remember the minimum room block. Hotels also set a minimum number of rooms you must book. Our Udaipur wedding cost guide explains how that sets your budget.

Best months for an outdoor wedding

November to February is the best window for outdoor weddings in Rajasthan and Goa: dry days and cool evenings.

MonthsRajasthanGoa
November to FebruaryBest for outdoor functionsBest for outdoor functions
March and OctoberWorkable, with warm afternoonsWorkable, check for late rain in October
April to JuneHot, keep outdoor functions to eveningsHot and humid
July to SeptemberMonsoon, plan everything with an indoor backupMonsoon, outdoor functions are a risk

These months also set hotel pricing: November to February is peak season, and rates fall in the months outdoor weddings are harder.

Music and noise rules for outdoor weddings

Loudspeakers have to go quiet outdoors at 10 pm. India's Noise Pollution (Regulation and Control) Rules, 2000 bar loudspeakers and public address systems between 10 pm and 6 am, except in closed premises such as banquet halls.

  • The midnight exception is limited. State governments may allow loudspeakers until midnight on up to 15 days a year, for notified cultural, religious or festive occasions. Do not assume your date qualifies.
  • Every venue on our list stops outdoor music at 10 pm. Hotel teams across Jaipur, Udaipur and Goa confirm the same cut off, so plan for it from the start.
  • Plan the evening around it. Hold the baraat and pheras outdoors, and move the late party indoors.

Questions to ask before you book an outdoor venue

  • What is the lawn capacity for a seated dinner, and for a standing reception?
  • What is the largest indoor space, and can it be held as a rain backup on our dates?
  • Where can the party continue after the 10 pm outdoor music cut off?
  • How far is the lawn from the guest rooms, and is there power backup for the lawn?
  • How many guests can stay on site, and which hotels nearby do you work with?
